Everyday Lines 11.5.15

Hello Everyone!

I hope all is well with you and your families! We have had a super busy year so far.  I apologize for not hardly posting anything new so far this year.

We started out the year learning how to make California Rolls thanks to my sister and the wonderful cookbook she gave me on how to learn to make sushi. :O) We have continued to learn a few more new recipes… such as Big Eddie’s Buffalo Chicken Dip which is out of this world and Nama’s bacon covered weenies which are lil smokies wrapped in bacon and covered with butter and brown sugar and popped into the oven to cook until all golden brown and bubbly. :O) Yikes! They are crazy good!

Then we started on the restoration of our little vintage tin can camper “Flo”.  OMG… that was a huge project and we are only 3/4 of the way done.  But it was worth it!   Thanks go out to my boys dad, Sean & to our neighbor Jeremy.  They were a huge help with this project. I’m sure they knew it was a much bigger project than I thought it was.

If course I was like Pbbbt …no problem I can restore a camper… (mind you I hardly have any construction skills at all) just the average handyman do it around the house stuff not including electrical.  I don’t know anything about electrical.  But I was full of enthusiasm! I love these little campers and have looked for about 2 years for one. I watched every do it yourself video out there on restoring these babies.  The best was mobiltech on you tube.  He shows you each step, what tools to use and what to expect as you pull up the floor, remove walls, removed lino flooring, wood rot and how to seal it all back up.  His videos were clear & witty. :O) SO if you are thinking of getting one of these super cute campers and restoring it, you must watch his videos.

We worked on the lil camper for about 3-4 months then off we went to Santa Cruz for Liam’s 13th birthday.  We had a blast!

There is still a lot to do on the lil camper but it is a fun work in progress.

And with all of the work on the lil camper it got me thinking…I would love to live in this! Life is so simple here in my little camper.  How nice it would be to down size.  I would love to live on less and spend more time doing the things I love without the huge bills and stress.

I talked with my boys (Liam & Micah) about it.  Because we were living in a 1500 sq ft home, 3 bedrooms, 2 bath, 2 car garage.  It was beautiful! Loved it! It felt like a beach home with beautiful laminate and tile through out. Wonderful neighborhood, but it was $ to live there and I am a single mom with one income.  Which I’m sure there are a lot of other single parents out there just like me trying to juggle everything with one income by yourself. But I was tired of doing that.  I wanted to do something different.  Shake up our lives.  Show my boys that this isn’t the only life style, there are so many different ones.  And to have an open perspective you must live several of them.  So they agreed to try out my tiny living lifestyle.  Where less is more.

We have downsized & got rid of 3/4 of our stuff and are working on a plan to live small and enjoy life.  We will keep you posted as to how it is going.

I will be posting on Tuesdays and Thursdays…

Posts will be on a variety of things …
